Plain clothes policemen will be riding public buses in the Corporate Area over the holidays to apprehend pickpockets.

Inspector Percival Buddan, of The City Centre Police Station, said the special street crime unit will also be looking out for people carrying offensive weapons.

According to Inspector Buddan, the police have devised counteractive measures to identify the culprits and apprehend them.

He said attention will also be paid to women who are increasingly becoming involved in larceny and other illicit activities.

At the same time, Inspector Buddan has sought to reassure that downtown Kingston remains a safe place to travel and do business.
