Probe launched into JDF soldier's death

A probe has been launched into the death of Jamaica Defence Force ( JDF) soldier Leachim Whyte whose body was found in a shallow grave in Spanish Town , St Catherine.

The body was found yesterday in the New Nursery community, which is near the headquarters of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company.

It’s reported that the 18-year-old JDF Private had gone to the community to visit a female friend.

Whyte, otherwise called ‘Lizzard’ was reported missing last Monday.

A team from the Island Special Constabulary and the JDF went to the New Nursery community yesterday afternoon as part of the search to find for the soldier.

It’s reported that while in a section of the community investigators saw an area covered in fresh dirt.The area was dug up and a dead body was found under the soil. The body was identified as that of Whyte by a family member.
