Hilary Session of the Home Circuit Court begins today

Justice Lloyd Hibbert is set to open the Hilary Session of the Home Circuit Court today.

Five hundred and fifty seven cases are on the court list this term.

During the last term, which began in September and ended last Friday, a total of 611 cases were on the court list.

Of that number, only 54 cases were disposed of.

The cases before the Home Circuit Court include 346 cases of murder, 29 wounding with intent and 139 sexual offense cases.

The Michaelmas Session should have ended on December 21 but had to be pushed back to last Friday because of the Boulevard murder trial.

Justice Horace Marsh is to continue his summation in that trial to the 12-member jury today.
