Contractors to take OCG to court

2013-01-08 09:23:27 | with audio | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Association of Contractors and Construction Consultants has threatened legal action against the Office of the Contractor General (OCG).

Yesterday, members of the group decided they would take the OCG to court, arguing that the office has been constantly contravening the laws governing how it operates.

Chairman of the contractors' group, Percival LaTouche, said the group’s attorneys have been mandated to begin legal proceedings against the OCG and have the papers served by Friday.

Latouche said the contractors have been suffering, as a result of the actions of the OCG and he is optimistic they will get a favourable result in the courts.

The association and the OCG have been at odds for months, after some contractors were withdrawn from the National Contracts Commission’s Works Contractor Application Process because of the alleged discovery of irregularities.
