BusinessLeave retreat with a clear plan – Zacca2013-01-10 11:04:47 | (0 Comments) ![]() PSOJ president Christopher Zacca PSOJ president Christopher Zacca, addressing a Lions Club of Kingston meeting at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston yesterday, highlighted a number of areas in which the organization would like clarity and specificity so as to give a clear picture of where the country is going. “Ladies and gentlemen, I put it to you that coming out of the retreat with nothing less than a clear vision around these issues, backed by a plan with details and basic timelines is not enough to satisfy civil society at this time,” Zacca said. He said they would like to get more details about the plans to reduce the cost of the public sector wage bill and the plans to modernize and transform it so that it becomes an efficient enabler of progress. The organisation is also seeking clarity about the plans to modernize and improve the tax collection system as well as waivers. Zacca said they are also anticipating actions that will result in creating a business-friendly environment. The reforms notwithstanding, Zacca said the government should also emphasise the protection of the most vulnerable such as the poor, the marginalized and the aged. marcella.scarlett@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
