NewsCustoms seizes over $1.9 million worth of black mosquito coils2013-01-11 09:10:44 | (0 Comments)
The Customs Department says its Contraband Enforcement Team has seized 490 cases of Black Mosquito Coils at Berth 11.
This follows continued warning from the Customs department for persons to discontinue use of the harmful product also known as Mosquito Medicine. The coils are banned by the Pesticide Control Authority. The shipment which was declared to be furniture originating from China has a street value of $1.96 million. The Customs Department said no arrest has yet been made. Since last November, the Department has reported six major seizures of Black Mosquito Coils at various Sea Ports and Business Premises in Kingston. Penalties for such breaches include severe fines and forfeiture of goods.
