Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Chairman of the St Catherine Parish Council Norman Scott says a drive is now underway to collect $8.7 million owed in property taxes.

The Spanish Town Mayor said the delinquent parties have been contacted.

He said the next step will see personnel employed to the council going out to collect the outstanding sums.

Mayor Scott said if persons fail to pay, then the Council will seek legal redress in the courts.

He said the council will stop at nothing to collect the outstanding sums.

Money from property taxes forms a part of the funds that is used to run the parish council.
