NewsGov't condemns killing of 8-y-o UK girl2013-01-13 12:36:19 | (0 Comments)
The Government has condemned the murder of an 8-year-old girl visiting the island from the United Kingdom.
Imani Green was shot and killed yesterday in Red Dirt district, near Duncans, Trelawny, after a gunman opened fire on the occupants of a shop in the community. Three other persons were also injured in the incident. In a statement yesterday evening, National Security Minister Peter Bunting called the killing senseless and said it should outrage all well-thinking Jamaicans. Bunting called for everyone to join the security forces in an intensified effort to rid communities of criminals. He said the British High Commission has been briefed on the incident and added that the Falmouth Criminal Investigation Branch has launched an extensive investigation and will ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice.
