CMC - Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour, Michael Posner, arrives in Haiti today for a three-day visit.

A US Department of State statement said Posner will meet with senior Haitian government officials including the Minister Delegate for Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme Poverty, the Ombudswoman of the Office of Citizen Protection, the Secretary of State for Disabilities, and the Director General of the Haitian National Police.

Posner will also meet with representatives of the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The statement said the international community and MINUSTAH have invested heavily and need to work hand in hand with Haitians. It's first task is to consolidate security.

MINUSTAH has been here since 2004.
