Hotelier Jeffrey McKitty is the new Custos of St Mary.

McKitty was sworn in on Monday during a ceremony at King’s House.

He replaces Alrick 'Bobby' Pottinger, whose retirement became effective on December 31, last year.

Governor-General, His Excellency, Sir Patrick Allen, has expressed confidence that the new Custos will effectively carry out his duties and responsibilities.

He said that McKitty has been a very active Justice of the Peace in
St Mary and had worked closely with Pottinger, acting as Custos.

McKitty also deputised for the Governor-General on one occasion.

McKitty says he would continue to do his best to contribute to the development and growth of St Mary.

“I promise that I will do all within my power to continue the good name of
St Mary and the legacy that the honourable (Alrick) Pottinger has left and to ensure that St Mary will not fade but will get stronger as the years go by,” he pledged.
