The Mayor of May Pen Scean Barnswell says there are indications of security breaches at the May Pen Hospital, which resulted in killing of a male patient at the institution.

It’s reported that last night, two masked men entered the hospital and held up the security guard at gunpoint.

It is further reported that they then made their way to the male surgical ward where they shot and killed 37-year-old Adiff Washington.

Washington was admitted to the hospital after being shot and injured on Sunday.

Reports are that he was attacked by gunmen, after reporting to the Milk River Police Station as a condition of his bail.

Police sources say Washington was charged recently with murder and kidnapping.

Meanwhile, Barnswell who visited the hospital this morning said he is concerned that criminals were able to gain access to the facility.

He said he will be seeking answers from the police.

Contacted by our news centre, Chairperson of the Southern Regional Health Authority Faye Bill would only say that the incident is a police matter.

However, she said meetings are being held with staff at the hospital and the family of the deceased.
