BusinessIMF not the solution to everything, says PM2013-01-15 13:58:54 | (0 Comments) ![]() Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller She said what is needed is a partnership among all Jamaicans. Simpson Miller made the comment as she addressed a media briefing at Jamaica House on Monday following a three day special meeting of the Cabinet, according to a press release. “The IMF will not solve the problems of Jamaica,” the prime minister said. “We all have to make some sacrifices and it is us as Jamaicans who will have to work together in unity to move this country forward,” she said. Simpson Miller added: “It must be all of us working together for the growth and development of Jamaica as one Jamaican family shaping our future together.” Noting there were some in the society who desired to see her use her ‘political capital’ to benefit a few, the prime minister insisted that she has a responsibility to all Jamaica and was not into making announcements or saying something if it is not going to happen. At the briefing, the prime minister updated journalists and the country on the three day special Cabinet meeting which she said focused, among other things, on the IMF negotiations, advancing the growth and development agenda, enhanced public/private partnerships and job creation as well as social protection. business@gleanerjm.com Source: The Gleaner/Power 106 News Send your images, videos and updates to youreport@gleanerjm.com | Click here to Comment Your Comments
