Public Defender ill, Tivoli report talks delayed

Today’s meeting between the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Michael Peart and the Public Defender Earl Witter to discuss his failure to submit the Tivoli Report to the Parliament had to be put off.

This afternoon, Peart told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre that Witter was not feeling well and so the meeting could not go ahead as planned.

He said another meeting has been tentatively planned for tomorrow.

The public defender has faced harsh criticism for failing to present the report.

Reacting to yesterday’s missed deadline Peart has described the the situation as embarrassing.

The House Speaker said he will determine what action to take following his talk with Witter.
