Chris Gayle's whirlwind 85 off 43 balls lifted Jamaica to a crushing seven-wicket win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament in St Lucia on Friday afternoon.
Gayle slammed nine sixes and four fours as Jamaica, replying to CCC's 150 for five in their allotted 20 overs, reached their target in 16.4 overs. David Bernard Jr (24) with two fours and two sixes and Nkrumah Bonner, 28 not out were the other main scorers for Jamaica. Scores: CCC 150 for five (20 overs); Jamaica 151 for three (16.4 overs). The win carried Jamaica to 17 points and second place in the preliminary round. They will face either the Windward Islands or Guyana tomorrow to decide who oppose preliminary round winners Trinidad and Tobago (21 points) in Sunday's final. Earlier CCC's total was built around opener Raymon Reifer who got 37 and Kyle Corbin, 47. Spinner Nikita Miller took two for 26.
