The father of Jamaica’s featherweight champion Nicholas Walters has appealed to fathers to help guide and nurture the development of their children.

Job Walters, whose son is the World Boxing Association Featherweight Champion, says he knows it is not easy, but points out that it will make a difference in the child’s life.

He was speaking at a civic ceremony hosted by the St James Parish Council last Thursday where his son was presented with the Key to the City of Montego Bay.

The elder Walters says he is coming from what he calls the lowest level of the society, but points out that his decision to stand by his son through the difficult times was what helped him to become a world champion.
