Payne Land gets tamper-proof electricity meters

2013-01-22 10:05:08 | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Public Service company (JPS) says it has completed the implementation of the Residential Advanced Metering Infrastructure system, in Payne Land, Kingston.

It says the old network was fully removed from the community over the weekend and comes after a year and a half of working in the community, including providing house wiring assistance.

The JPS Corporate Communications Officer, Audrey Williams, says the residents have been cooperative.

Williams also says the JPS has set up a temporary office at the Haile Selassie High school to help residents who may need to consult with the company on matters related to getting connected.

She says the company will continue its drive to regularize the use of electrical power, as the JPS ramps up its campaign to reduce power loss in this area.

Last year, the JPS spent US$30 million fighting electricity theft.
