Illegal gun and ammunition seized in Tawes Pen

2013-01-23 18:23:40 | (0 Comments)

The police are reporting that an Uzi submachine gun and rounds of ammunition were seized during a joint Police/Military operation in the Tawes Pen area of Spanish Town, St. Catherine early this morning.

They say several persons were taken into custody including a man, who they suspect to be a major player in a recent murder in the parish.

The police started its operation about 1 o’clock this morning, after it launched a curfew.

In addition to the weapon and ammunition, the police also reportedly seized a number of laptops, cellular phones, motor bikes and cars.

The police say the operation was intelligence driven in search of wanted men, guns and drugs.

The Tawes Pen community remains under curfew at this time.
