Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce Anthony Hylton, says the expansion plans for the Port of Kingston are well advanced.

Hylton has given the assurance that the expanded facility will be ready to accommodate supersized vessels by 2015 when the expansion of the Panama is scheduled to be completed.

Along with the expanded infrastructure, the Government also plans to put in place new facilities, services and arrangements at the Port of Kingston.

Hylton says this will create a cohesive network of logistics and shipping facilities that will position the country as the fourth node in the global logistics chain along with Singapore, Dubai and the Port of Rotterdam.

He was speaking during the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s eighth regional conference on investments and the capital markets at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Thursday.
