NewsWitter mum on Tivoli report delays2013-01-29 17:29:10 | (0 Comments) ![]() An ambulance in West Kingston during the 2010 Tivoli operation - File The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre Public Defender Earl Witter says he will not be commenting on his failure to submit the long-awaited report on the May 2010 Tivoli operation until it is submitted to the Parliament. The Houses of Parliament reported today that information provided by the public defender on the status of the report suggests that the completion date for the report could not be determined. It also confirmed that Witter’s office will be provided with more resources to allow him to complete the report which he initiated following the operation. The Parliamentary Commission met with Witter on January 22 after he again missed a deadline to submit his report to Parliament. It also says a team from the Houses of Parliament headed by the Clerk to the Houses will be closely monitoring the progress to ensure that the report is completed in the shortest possible time. The Parliament has also said the Commission has decided that issues relating to the operations of the Office of the Public Defender will be thoroughly investigated as soon as the report is completed. More than 70 people were killed when members of the security forces entered Tivoli in 2010 in search of then fugitive Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.
