Education Minister Ronald Thwaites says the ministry is now reviewing applications from persons hoping to fill several posts in the National Parenting Commission.

Thwaites has promised that the Commission will begin operation early this year.

He said after the applications are reviewed he will be meeting with officials at the Early Childhood Commission as well as the Ministry of Youth.

The education minister believes both bodies should be involved in the process, as they both have programmes related to specific aspects of parenting.

The Parenting Commission is expected to carry out activities that will help parents to fulfil their roles and responsibilities as outlined in the National Parenting Policy.

It is also aimed at providing support for parents by increasing their access to quality information and services.
