NewsNWA to make insurance claims for damaged bus sheds2013-01-30 17:03:33 | (0 Comments)
Carl Gilchrist, Gleaner Writer
The National Works Agency (NWA) says it is looking to make claims from insurance companies whenever bus sheds are destroyed by motorists. The NWA's communications manager Stephen Shaw made the disclosure while responding to complaints from commuters who use bus sheds along the north coast. The commuters say they are being left to the mercy of the elements, as many of the bus sheds which were built as part of the north coast highway project are in a state of disrepair or are now non-existent in some cases. Shaw says the sheds were destroyed by a combination of factors including the weather and reckless driving by some motorists. He says the NWA is constrained and cannot take on the financial burden of carrying out the necessary repairs. Shaw says it is for that reason that the agency will be seeking to make insurance claims against drivers. He is urging persons to provide the agency with information when a bus shed is destroyed by a motorist.
