NewsEducation ministry urges students to walk in groups2013-01-31 09:26:50 | (0 Comments)
The Education ministry is urging parents to ensure their children walk in groups as they make their way to and from school daily.
The appeal follows the murder of 14-year-old Sherippa Saddler, who was reportedly on her way to her classes at the Haile Selassie High School when she was killed. The ministry said during the commute to and from school, children are exposed to criminals who continue to prey on defenseless students. However, the ministry said if students travel in groups they can see, assist and protect each other. The education ministry said a Trauma Response Team has been instructed to visit the school, and offer grief counselling services and support to the students and the teachers. The ministry has condemned what it says was a senseless killing. It says it is hoping the perpetrators will be quickly apprehended and justice served.
