Minister of National Security Peter Bunting is condemning the murder of Special Constable Duan Peart, who was shot and killed on Tuesday night.

Peart was attacked by gunmen and shot several times along Grange Lane in Portmore, St. Catherine.

It’s reported that the policeman had stopped to help a motorist.

Bunting says the killing of Special Constable Peart demonstrates the callous and merciless nature of criminals.

He said the national security ministry and the Police High Command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure that criminals are caught and brought to justice.

Bunting is expressing condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of Constable Peart, and is urging anyone with information that can assist with the police investigation to contact the nearest police station or call 811 or Crime Stop at 311.
