Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Robert Pickersgill - File.
Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change Robert Pickersgill says his ministry is considering the introduction of a prepaid system for water supply.

He said the measure is aimed at increasing revenue to the National Water Commission.

Pickersgill said a substantial amount of money will also be spent on new meters, noting that the devices have already been tested for accuracy by the Bureau of Standards and have received positive results.

The minister noted that a great majority of the revenue lost is as a result of the absence of meters.

In the meantime, Pickersgill is urging the public to be patient in cases where it becomes necessary for the road to be dug up for pipe laying or replacement activities.

He said measures are in place to ensure that the road is brought back to its original state after it has been dug up.
