West Indies were dismissed for their lowest ever total in a One-Day International against Australia, who cruised to a nine-wicket victory in the opening match of the series in Perth today.
Electing to bat, the West Indies were dismissed for 70 off 23 overs against the bowling of Mitchell Starc five for 20. Captain Darren Sammy top scored with 16 from 37 balls, while four batsmen include Ramnaresh Sarwan failed to score. Kieron Powell and Darren Bravo scored 11 runs each for explosive Jamaican opener Chris Gayle was dismissed for four. Australia replied with 71 for one to win the contest before the 10th overs. Glenn Maxwell took the hosts to their target with 51 not out from 35 balls. Debutant Jason Holder picked up the only Australian wicket, by having Aaron Finch caught for 10. The second game of the five-match series will be played on Sunday, also in Perth.
