Former Olint boss David Smith
Incarcerated former Olint boss David Smith has made an application for an early release from prison.
Smith is serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence in Her Majestyís Prison Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands.
The Liaison Secretary of the Turks and Caicos Parole Board, Teresa Williams Andrews, confirmed this afternoon that Smith has filed an application for early release.
The board is now inviting written submissions from victims or aggrieved people indicating any concern they have regarding his early release.
Submissions should be addressed to Hubert Ingham, Chairman of the Parole Board, Grand Turk; Turks and Caicos Islands and sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org before February 8, 2013.
This means that persons in Jamaica who are desirous of making submissions to the Turks and Caicos Parole Board have until Thursday to do so.
In July last year, Smith was convicted in the Supreme Court of the Turks and Caicos Islands after pleading guilty to two counts of money laundering and two counts of conspiracy to defraud.
The conviction triggered a mandatory confiscation hearing under the Turks and Caicos Islands Proceeds of Crime Ordinance.
