Olint investors want money back

The group that represents defrauded Olint investors in Jamaica says it is not concerned about the possibility of the early release of fraudster David Smith.

Instead, the Association of Concerned Olint Members says it wants to know what steps can be taken by the Government to secure the return of the millions of dollars invested by Jamaicans who continue to hurt.

The authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands have indicated that the former Olint boss has applied for early parole.

Smith is serving a six year prison term in the TCI.

However chairman of the association Dr Godfrey McAllister says even if Smith is released early in the TCI, the former Olint boss still has to face his prison term in the United States.

Smith was sentenced to 30 years in prison on fraud charges related to his operation of Olint in August 2011 in a US court.

Dr. McAllister says the sole concern of defrauded Jamaican Olint investors is to to get their money back.
