Chairman of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Robert Montague, has written to Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and the Political Ombudsman regarding controversial statements Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller has made about the opposition leader, Andrew Holness.

The letter has also been addressed to the Head of the Jamaica Council of Churches.

Montague says he is requesting the intervention of the three offices arguing that Simpson Miller's statements were divisive and undemocratic.

He says he has the support of the Jamaica Labour Party’s standing committee.

He says the committee’s examination of Holness’ speech to which Simpson Miller was responding has found only a reasoned analysis of the country’s economic position and lays down prescriptions for the way forward.
