West Indies lost the five-match One-Day International series to Australia today after the host recorded a 39-run victory in the third match in Canberra.
As a result of the victory, Australia have taken an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the series. Set a victory target of 330, West Indies were bowled out for 290 off 47.3 overs. Darren Bravo top scored for the West Indies with 86 from 96 balls, while his brother Dwayne hit 51 off 50 balls. The pair put on a fighting 114-run partnership for the third wicket. Opener Kieran Powell chipped in with 47, while Jamaican all-rounder Andre Russell scored 43 from 31 balls. Jamaican Chris Gayle scored only two runs after he was pushed down the order as a result of an injury. James Faulkner was the most successful bowler for Australia with 4 for 48. Earlier, Shane Watson hit a century on his return from injury to lead Australia to 329 for seven off their allotted 50 overs. Captain Darren Sammy and Sunil Narine ended with two wickets apiece, while Kemar Roach, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo picked up a wicket each. The series moves to Sydney for the fourth match on Friday before the fifth and final match in Melbourne on Sunday.
