Tremor felt in western Jamaica

Sections of western Jamaica were rocked by a tremor early this morning.

Reports are that it occurred at about 6:10 a.m. and lasted for approximately three seconds. The magnitude or intensity of the quake has not yet been reported.

Meanwhile, a 4.9 magnitude quake also shook Trinidad about 1:27 this morning.

Trinidad’s Seismic Research Centre at the University of the West Indies says the quake occurred north of the Paria Peninsula in Trinidad.

There were no reported deaths or damage resulting from the tremors experienced in Jamaica or Trinidad.
