The Justice Minister Senator Mark Golding says the Government will soon bring to Parliament proposed amendments to the Building Act for the adoption of the National Building Code.

Golding was speaking in the Senate on Friday during a debate on a motion brought by Senator Wensworth Skeffery.

According to Senator Golding, the ministry has been pushing to change the Building Act.

He says the proposed changes to the building law were produced last September but were later revised.

Senator Golding says the Local Government Ministry is now working on developing the regulations to accompany the legislation.

The new Building Act will, among other things, repeal the Kingston and St Andrew Building Act and the Parish Councils Building Act and make fresh provisions for the regulation of the building industry.
