Beware of scammers, JPS warns

2013-02-13 08:11:56 | (0 Comments)

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is warning members of the public to beware of scammers who are disconnecting illegally connected persons and confiscating their appliances.
The company says the appliances are being confiscated allegedly as payment for the stolen electricity.

The JPS says while it will remove illegal connections, it will not demand or take household appliances as payment for the stolen electricity.

The company also says disconnectors are not allowed to demand or collect cash.

It also says JPS customers should never allow anyone in their home or office, without proper JPS identification cards.

Customers who feel uncertain of the identity of persons claiming to be JPS personnel, should take the names and licence numbers of the persons seeking entrance and make contact with JPS to confirm their identity.
