Two killed in Clarendon shoot-out
2013-02-13 12:43:25 | (0 Comments)
Two men who are believed to be members of a motor vehicle scam ring in Clarendon were fatally shot after they allegedly engaged the police in a shoot-out in the Cemetery Road area of Denbigh, May Pen, yesterday afternoon.
They have been named as Andrew Chong and an accomplice known only as Gilly Bong.
A third man is now on the run.
But the police say a 9 millimeter semi automatic pistol and a magazine with four live rounds were recovered after the shooting.
The police say they apprehended the scammers while they were in the process of robbing a prospective buyer who had responded to a newspaper advertisement.
An officer assigned to the May Pen police station told our news centre that the scammers have been under investigation since last year.
He said they have already fleeced thousands of dollars from unsuspecting victims.
The police officer said the scam ring is organised by members of a gang.
