Measures in place to combat coffee disease

Managing Director of the Mavis Bank Coffee Factory Senator Norman Grant says the company is implementing measures aimed at fighting the Coffee Leaf Rust Disease.

He says if the disease is not controlled, it could result in about US$4 million in losses to the coffee industry.
Senator Grant says among the measures being implemented is the training of coffee farmers.
He says about 500 farmers have already benefitted from the training.
In the meantime, Senator Grant says trained sprayers have also been sent to several farms with mist blowers to conduct mass spraying.
He also says farmers have also been equipped with fertiliser for their coffee farms.
