SLB Committee to submit report in April

The committee set up to identify funds for the Student Loan Bureau is expected to submit its report in April.

Education Minister Ronald Thwaites had asked the committee to examine ways in which more funding can be allocated to the lending agency in response to the financial challenges it has been facing.

The committee is chaired by Managing Director of the National Commercial Bank Patrick Hylton.
Meanwhile, special adviser in the Education Ministry, Dr Franklin Johnston, says the recommendations to be submitted by the committee, will be implemented before the start of the new academic year.

According to him, education can no longer be viewed as welfare but as an investment.
