President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), Dr. Julian Hunte has congratulated the West Indies Women’s team for reaching its first ever Women’s World Cup final.

On Wednesday, West Indies Women produced a Herculean effort in their last Super Six game to beat Australia Women by eight runs and book their place in Sunday’s championship game.

A WICB statement quoted Hunte as saying the players have improved because of the work done by previous teams.

West Indies now face Australia again in Sunday’s final and are determine to emulate their male counterparts who won the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka last October.
