Charity groups boost health sector

2013-02-16 18:26:26 | (0 Comments)

Jamaica’s ailing health sector benefitted from billions of dollars in donations from charitable organisations and individuals last year.

Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson, in lauding the donations, revealed that one group, Food For The Poor, contributed $3.1 billion worth of equipment and medical supplies to the sector in 2012.

This week Food For The Poor donated operating theatre lights, wheelchairs, stretchers and hospital beds valued at over $16 million.

Ferguson commended all the donors, noting that they have provided tangible support to the country’s health sector.
