New application procedure for road licences

2013-02-18 09:15:10 | (0 Comments)

Starting today, public passenger operators will be required to have their vehicles inspected at Transport Authority sites as a condition for renewing their road licences.

Previously, operators were permitted to use private evaluators but the Transport Authority says this will be no more.

The agency says the change in procedure is aimed at reducing the time to process applications for the upcoming 2013-2014 licensing period.

The new licensing period begins on April 1.

However, the Transport Authority says the usual procedures will remain for new road licence applications.

In the meantime, the Authority says there will be no increase in the fees for road license applications for public passenger vehicle or commercial carriers.

It is also urging all operators to renew their road licences early to avoid prosecution come April 1.
