The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is to collaborate with parish councils in its public education effort of encouraging persons to  dispose of their garbage appropriately.

Regional Operations Manager for the NSWMA, Eifert Daley, says the decision was made following an analysis of the time spent by the agency to clean the streets of waste thrown away by persons who refuse to use bins.

Daley says the NSWMA believes the partnership will result in more persons being ticketed for breaching the anti-litter law.

Meanwhile, Daley said the NSWMA is in a better position to collect garbage islandwide with repairs being effected to the agency's fleet of vehicles.

He says the collection of garbage is being done at least once a week.

However, Daley is pleading with citizens to properly separate their garbage.
