Port Henderson road repairs underway

2013-02-19 13:26:36 | with audio | (0 Comments)

The National Works Agency (NWA), says roadwork on the Port Henderson Road in St. Catherine should be completed by April.

The roadway, which is a major link between Spanish Town and Portmore, was damaged by floodwaters associated with Tropical Storm Nicole in 2010.

NWA Communications Manager Stephen Shaw says the roadwork, which was suspended months ago, has resumed.

He says the thoroughfare is being rehabilitated under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme.

Meanwhile, Shaw says work to replace the damaged bridge in Craig Mill, Portland, is expected to be completed within the next three months.

The bridge was closed last year.

Shaw says the agency is in the final stages of repairing the roadway leading from Priory to Bamboo in St. Ann.

The roadwork is scheduled to be completed by the end of February.
