2013-02-19 13:51:49 | (0 Comments)

United States-based players Damion Lowe and midfielder Sean McFarlane have been drawn into the young Reggae Boyz’ starting eleven as Jamaica begin their campaign for Under 20 World Cup glory in Mexico today.

Jamaica will open against Puerto Rico in a match scheduled to start at 6.30 p.m. Jamaica time.

Also included in the starting eleven are five of the six players who participated in the Under-17 World Cup in Mexico two years ago.

Those players are Alvas Powel, Zhelano Barnes, Romario Jones, Andre Lewis and Omar Holness.

The other members of the starting team are Rashaun Pattherson, Keniel Kirlew, Paul Wilson and Cleon Pryce.

Jamaica are drawn in Group C with Panama and Puerto Rico.

The CONCACAF Under-20 Championships will qualify four teams to the 2013 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey in June.

Meanwhile, the qualifiers opened yesterday with Cuba and the United States securing victories.

Cuba defeated Canada 2-1 in the Group 'B' opener, while the United States held on for a slender 2-1 Group 'A' victory over Haiti.
