UPDATE: Arthur Williams hands over firearm to police for forensic testing

2013-02-19 15:07:29 | (0 Comments)

Opposition Senator Arthur Williams has handed over his licensed firearm to the police for forensic testing following an early morning incident at Chasers Café in New Kingston.

Williams is reported to have accidentally shot himself in the leg around 1:15 a.m.

Earlier, police detectives had said they were getting little cooperation from Williams in their investigation.

However, in a statement issued this afternoon, Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey, the Commanding Officer for the St Andrew Central Police Division contradicted those claims.

“I wish to make it clear that Senator Arthur Williams has been speaking with Police investigators and is cooperating in full with all of our investigative requirements,” Bailey said, adding that he visited the home of Williams this morning.

“Senator Williams was also interviewed in the prescribed manner for such incidents,” he said noting that the scene of the incident was also visited by personnel from the Scenes of Crime Unit.

“The incident involving Senator Williams is being investigated in the usual manner in which such incidents are treated by the Police,” Bailey said.
