Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer
A man who was being held in connection with the murder of Special Constable Dwayne Peart of Harman Barracks was ordered released by the court today. He is Richardo Spencer of May Pen Clarendon. Spencer was freed following a Habeas Corpus application by his lawyer Dwight Reece. Reece told the court he accompanied his client to the police after he was listed as a person of interest. Reece also told Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green that an identification parade was held and Spencer was not pointed out. The RM then ordered that Spencer be released forthwith. On January 29 about 10:30 p.m Peart was driving along Grange Lane in St Catherine. He came upon a group of men dressed as police personnel and stopped to assist them. The impersonators soon after shot the policeman. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
