NewsSarwan returns for ODI against Zimbabwe2013-02-21 14:07:50 | (0 Comments)
Ramnaresh Sarwan has secured his spot in West Indies team for the opening One-Day International against Zimbabwe with a big half-century in the tour match at Progress Park in Grenada yesterday.
Sarwan top scored with 90 but the UWI Vice Chancellor’s Eleven lost by 77 runs to Zimbabwe in the one-day match. Needing 347 for victory, the UWI Vice Chancellor’s side was bowled out for 269 off 48.4 overs. Shai Hope was the next best scorer with 43, while Shamarh Brooks got 28. Earlier, Zimbabwe electing to bat piled up 346 for seven with Vusi Sibanda retiring on 145. Hamilton Masakadza 56 and Tino Mawoyo 30 also got among the runs. The match is the only warm-up tour game for the Zimbabweans before the three-match One-Day International series against the West Indies. The One-Day International series bowls off on Friday at the National Stadium in Grenada. Zimbabwe will also clash with the West Indies in two Twenty20 matches in Antigua on March 2 and 3 and two-Test matches. The opening Test will take place in Barbados and begins March 12. The second Test is set for Dominica from March 20 to 24.
