The government is spending $1.5 million on a delegation now in the United States seeking investors for its logistics hub project.

Minister with responsibility for information, Sandrea Falconer, says Industry and Commerce Minister, Anthony Hylton and a four-member delegation left the island on February 18 and is expected to return on February 22.

She says while in the US the group will meet with organisations such as the World Bank.

Development of the hub, which is estimated will cost more than US$8 million, is being spearheaded by the government.

The project aims to position Jamaica to take advantage of anticipated increased maritime activities projected to accrue from the expansion of the Panama Canal, by 2015.
