NewsKeith Clarke murder case delayed again2013-02-22 14:13:17 | (0 Comments)
The case involving the three Jamaica Defence Force soldiers charged in connection with the death of Kingston businessman Keith Clarke has been put off until July 1.
When the case was called up in the Home Circuit Court this morning, Linton Gordon, the attorney representing Lance corporals Greg Tinglin, Odel Buckley and private Arnold Henry, requested time for more testing to be done on bullet fragments. He told the court that in September the Director of Public Prosecutions advised him that further testing was done on the bullet fragments. The attorney said the results were made available in January but they were inconclusive. Against that background, he said the defence will be acquiring the services of an overseas-based expert to conduct more tests on the bullet fragments. Linton explained that a fragment of a bullet was not found where the shooting incident took place although it was similar to that allegedly used by the soldiers. He said the defence needs to test the fragment to determine if anyone other than the soldiers were using high powered weapons. Meanwhile, bail for the three soldiers was also extended until the July 1 trial date. The soldiers were charged in July last year, following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Keith Clarke was shot all over his body by members of the security forces at his East Kirkland Heights home in St Andrew in May 2010. The security forces had reportedly gone to the area in search of then fugitive Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
