The National Water Commission (NWC) says it will begin construction of three new sewers and related laterals beginning in early March.

It says this expansion will facilitate further sewage flows generated in Kingston and St Andrew to the recently commissioned Soapberry Treatment Plant.

The projects being constructed under this sewerage expansion programme include the Fairway/ Seymour/Retreat Avenues Collector Sewers, the Hope Road Lateral Sanitary Collector Sewers; and the Swallowfield Road Sanitary Collector Sewers.

The projects are expected to cost $72 million and the projects are slated to be completed within 6 months.

The NWC says these projects are being carried under its K-Factor programme, which is a facility allowing the entity to use a pre-determined percentage on customer’s bills to implement operational efficiency projects.
