NewsEarly problems hit Gibson Relays2013-02-23 13:56:44 | (0 Comments)
The 37th staging of the Gibson Relays got off to a rough start, as a dysfunctional electronic timing system left spectators, coaches and media representatives upset, and organisers scurrying for a fix.
Up to 1:45pm, the stopwatch located at the finish line was still not operational, leaving organisers to plead with spectators for patience through several public announcements. We have not been able to make contact with meet director Ray Harvey or Chairman professor Rainford Wilks, but technicians have advised us that the system, which displays times and results from each race, will be operational before the start of the afternoon session at 4:15pm. No reason was given for the delays or explanation of the problems affecting the system.
