Speaking at the funeral of 14-year-old Shariefa Saddler at the Calvary Evangelistic Assembly in Kingston this afternoon, Holness urged Jamaicans not to condone these practices and to speak out against such crimes.
He urged Jamaicans to live as a community and to look out for the welfare of all children.
Opposition spokesperson on Youth and Culture, Olivia Grange, who also attended this afternoon’s funeral, called for improved and vigilant parenting.
She encouraged young women and girls to stand up to criminals and to speak to someone if they are threatened or abused.
Shariefa, who attended the Haile Sellasie High School in St Andrew was kidnapped and murdered. Her battered body was thrown from a car on January 30 as it drove along Lothiam Avenue in Kingston 11.
