Sound system operator killed, woman arrested

A woman is now in police custody in connection with the shooting death of a sound system operator at a dance in St. Mary last night.

The dead man has been identified as 34-year-old Courtney George Ellis, also known as 'Lenky'.

Relatives say he was shot five times in an area known as Donald’s Land.

They say the killing was triggered by an incident last November in which Ellis rejected a woman who came on to him at a dance.

Family members say the woman had threatened to have him killed.

The woman, who allegedly made the threat was taken into custody for questioning following this morning’s murder.
